Hey, fellow survivors! 👋
So, you’ve stumbled into the post-apocalyptic chaos of Dark War Survival. You’re building your base, you’ve named your first survivor "Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson" (because he definitely survives), and you’re feeling pretty good. Then you see it. The shop. The glorious, tantalizing, cruel shop.
Rubies.
That little crimson gem that whispers, "Hey, you could have that epic hero skin... or that 10x speed-up... or that weapon that actually shoots zombies instead of just looking menacing." And you’re like, "WHERE DO I GET YOU, BEAUTIFUL?!"
I’ve been there. I’ve stared at that ruby counter, willing it to go up through sheer willpower (it doesn’t work, trust me). I’ve made questionable life choices in the name of a ruby pack. So, let me, your slightly sleep-deprived, ruby-obsessed guide, walk you through the real ways to fill your pockets. No corporate fluff. Just the gritty, glitchy, sometimes-fun truth.
This, my friends, is the bread and butter. The holy grail. The reason I sometimes set alarms for 3 AM.
Seasonal Pass (The Battle Pass, but for Zombies): If you only do ONE thing, do this. Grind the daily/weekly missions. Play. Survive. It’s not even hard—it’s just playing the game. The free track gives you a few rubies, but the premium track? Oh, baby. You’re looking at a solid chunk, often 500+ by the end of a season. It’s the most reliable, most "play-to-earn" method out there. Pro-tip: Start it on day one. Even if you play 10 minutes a day, you’ll get there.
Limited-Time Events: These are the surprise parties. "Zombie Basketball Tournament?" "Scavenger Hunt for Radioactive Socks?" YES. Usually, completing event milestones showers you with rubies. My fun anecdote: Last month, there was a "Pet-a-Zombie" event (don’t ask). I spent an hour carefully approaching a slow, moaning zombie with a virtual stick. I got 50 rubies and a profound sense of unease. Worth it.
Look, I get it. You’re on the bus. You’re in the bathroom (no judgment). You have the attention span of a goldfish on espresso.
Watch Ads for Rubies: The game is generous here. There’s usually a "Watch Ad for +1 Ruby" button in the shop or events tab. Do it. Every single day. It’s 10 seconds of your life for a gem that costs $0.99 otherwise. That’s a 999% return on investment in my weird, math-adjacent brain.
Daily Login Calendar: The 7-day or 30-day calendar. It’s not always rubies (sometimes it’s a crate that might have rubies, the tease!), but day 7 and day 30 are almost always ruby payouts. Set a phone reminder. I’ve missed that day-30 ruby before and I still have nightmares about the lost potential.
This is for the completionists. The "I must have every title" crowd. (Hi, I’m in this picture and I don’t like it.)
Achievements: Go to your profile. Scroll through. There’s gold in them thar hills. "Survive 100 Days," "Kill 10,000 Zombies," "Build 50 Farm Plots." A lot of these one-time achievements give a nice ruby bump. It’s the game rewarding you for… you know… playing it. Radical concept!
Campaign/Chapter Completion: Finishing a major story chapter often comes with a ruby reward. So, actually progress instead of just endlessly optimizing your base’s decorative fence placement. (Guilty.)
Here be dragons. And also, sometimes, rubies.
Free Daily/Weekly Crates: The ones you get for logging in or completing simple tasks. They can contain rubies. It’s a lottery. I’ve gotten 5 rubies from a free crate and I’ve gotten a single, mocking, moldy sandwich. Such is life.
Event/Activity Crates: Same deal, but usually better odds. If an event gives you a special crate, open it immediately. Don’t hoard it. The joy is in the potential, not the hoarding.
Okay, let’s be real. You can buy them. BUT. Before you tap that "Buy Now" button, ask yourself:
Did you get the Seasonal Pass?
Did you watch all your daily ads for a week?
Did you check every achievement?
If you haven’t done the above, you’re leaving free rubies on the table. Paying for rubies should be a "I love this game and want to support it and get that cool skin now" choice, not an "I’m desperate" move.
My personal rule: I only buy the Seasonal Pass if I’m hooked. It’s the best value by a mile. Everything else feels like paying $2 for a single gumball from a machine that also gives you free gumballs if you just wait a day.
Patience is a (Ruby) Virtue: New events and seasons drop all the time. The ruby drought is temporary. The next event is always coming.
Join a Good Alliance: Some alliances have shared goals that reward rubies for collective effort. Find active, chatty folks! It makes the grind fun.
Check the Mail! Sometimes the developers drop a "Sorry for the server hiccup!" ruby or two into your mailbox. It’s like finding a $5 bill in an old jacket.
Dark War Survival is a marathon, not a sprint (unless a horde is chasing you, then sprint). Rubies are designed to be a slow, rewarding drip, not a flood. The game wants you to play, to engage, to feel that little "ding!" of satisfaction when you earn one.
Embrace the grind! Name your rubies. (I call mine "Steve." Steve the Ruby.) Save them for something that truly excites you, not just because it’s shiny. That legendary hero? That permanent 2x resource boost? That’s what Steve is for.
Now get out there, survivor. Your rubies—I mean, Steve—are waiting. And maybe, just maybe, go pet a zombie for me. (Kidding!... Mostly.)
Happy surviving! 🧟♂️💎
