After many years of confusion and pain, I decided that writing this book would be good therapy. I actually taught High School English for years, but honestly, I have no idea of how to write a story such as mine. I remember William Faulkner's Nobel Prize acceptance speech when he said that writers no longer write from the heart but from the glands. I promise you that every word in my story is written from the heart. I have had a lifelong battle with no understanding of why the events of my life have been spaced out with pain. Pain hits me like a sledgehammer and then leaves for a few years, only to rear its face again. King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, had it right. Life is lived in seasons. A season of good times, followed by bad times. All our lives, the seasons continue. In my lifetime, I have had many seasons. If I can inspire just one person with this story, it will be well worth my effort. "Wounds That Don't Heal" was written to help me and in doing so, maybe it will help others. As Faulkner noted, he believes in the human race because of one reason, man has "a soul, a spirit capable of compassion, and sacrifice and endurance." I also believe that little voice inside us, picks us up throughout life and says, "don't quit", "be kind", "be gentle", and no matter what, "be humble". Above all, get rid of any prejudice in your life. Mankind has no place for such ignorance.
