In this world, there is no creature endowed with a unique power like that of human beings. However, this power comes with the responsibility to use it appropriately. Those who use this power for its intended purpose are rewarded, while those who misuse it are punished. Humans are created with a purpose and cannot exist without one. Some might argue that no one can prevent them from living without a purpose.
However, the power given to us and the laws we disregard are the ones that restrict and punish us. Trying to live without a purpose is akin to using electricity without understanding it. If we use electricity without knowledge, we risk accidents and even death. We cannot blame the electricity provider for our harm, as it was our misuse that caused the damage. Similarly, if we use the things we are created for without understanding their purpose, they can harm us, just like electricity.
Success, like mathematical calculations, follows universal principles. Andrew Carnegie, a renowned philosopher and financial guru who enlightened many, explained that human beings are created with physical attributes and mental faculties, including the precious gifts of mind and heart. Accompanying these gifts are two sealed envelopes: one containing the rewards for using these gifts for their intended purpose, and the other containing the punishments for neglecting or misusing them.
The rewards for using our gifts appropriately include physical and mental health, love, grace, blessings, positive thinking, generosity, peace of mind, while the punishments for misusing them include greed, selfishness, jealousy, misery, evil, deceit, resentment, terror, revenge, pain, anxiety, fear, depression, suffering, and poverty. To understand this more simply, consider a farmer. If hhe sow what he wanted in his farmland, he will reap a bountiful harvest.
However, if he left the land fallow, it will be overtaken by weeds, thorns, and thistles. These unwanted plants grow as a punishment for not sowing. To examine the true potential of human beings, we can use the analogy of the earth. Humans are created from the earth, and by observing the earth, we can partially understand ourselves. We can sow seeds in the earth and reap the fruits. We can dig deeper and find water.
With more digging, we can find oil. Perhaps with even more depth, we can discover valuable minerals.
