ENERGY: how to prevent running out constantly
1. The "spend before bed" ruleIt's the thing that completely changed my game, and it's so silly-simple that I'm almost embarrassed to bring it up. Energy regenerates over time, but it has a cap. If you go to sleep with a full bar, you're simply wasting hours of free regen while you sleep with it maxed out, doing nothing. Now, as I log off the game for the night, I'll spend my energy on any old thing, even something I don't strictly need. Even just grinding a point or two. It doesn't matter. Spending it means it will be refilling while I sleep, and isn't sitting pretty and useless at it's max.
When I wake up, it's all regenerated, and I've got free energy. Every single morning as I start the game. It's the closest thing to a glitch that isn't.
2. Rewarded ads really are not a scam hereI used to be such a proud ad-snob, who would never watch a thirty seconds ad of some guy pulling pins out of a wall to save a princess. Reader, I was wrong and also quite broke. The energy you get in a rewarded ad in Reality Bay refreshes with a cooldown, and if you just tap it whenever it's available while you do other things, like making coffee or waiting for a kettle to boil, you accumulate it to a shocking degree on a weekly scale. I now do my ad-watching while my toast is in the toaster, and it's become a ritual. My partner thinks it's very sad. My energy bar, however, does not.
3. Know your refill times and plan around themKnow approximately how long it takes for an energy point to regenerate, and plan around this. It varies as you level up or unlock upgrades, so find this out by opening Reality Bay and seeing how the time changes, then come back to this list. At this point, you can figure out how many points you'll be able to get by the end of the day. I set a phone alarm for it, as one of my main tasks usually mid-afternoon. Not obsessive, just very efficient. (My alarm's label is "BAY." My coworker saw it and asked if I was going sailing. I said yes.)
4. Level-ups refill you - so bank them
If you're a sliver from level-up, don't blow all your energy first. Level-ups generally give you some energy. The move is: get close to levelling, spend energy down to near-zero, then pop the level. You really are getting a double tank out of it. I lost so much free energy beforehand without knowing this. Don't be me.
5. Energy from events and friends Check the event tab. I'm serious. There's almost always some side-event giving out energy for participation, and it only takes thirty seconds to claim it.
And if the game has a gifting/friend-system where you can send and receive energy - build an actual friend list. Not random people who never log in. Find a few active people (community Discords are good for this), and reciprocate. The people who send you stuff daily are the ones you've sent stuff to daily. Shocking, I know.
COINS: how I stopped being broke
1. Dailies. Every day. No exceptions.Yeah yeah, "do your dailies," what groundbreaking advice. But hear me out. It's not the individual daily that matters, it's the streak multiplier. The payout for day 14 vs day 1 are not even in the same universe. I broke a streak once because I went camping and had no signal and I genuinely thought about it for the entire duration of the trip. Sat by a campfire, roasting a marshmallow, mourning my coin multiplier. My friends had to physically tell me to stop. Takeaway: log in even if you only have ninety seconds. Tap the daily. Close the app. Done.
2. Don't impulse-buy cosmetics. (I know. I KNOW.)
I'm not your dad. Buy the cute thing if the cute thing brings you joy. That's a legitimate use of coins, and I'm not going to be weird about it. But wait for a sale-cycle, as cosmetics rotate and they discount. I bought a full-price item and saw it at a chunky discount eleven days later and have not emotionally recovered.
Priority order that's worked for me: Permanent upgrades (anything that increases income or reduces cost - these are paying themselves back)Energy capacity, if that's purchasable
Consumables you'll definitely use Cute hat 🎩
3. Compound your income upgrades early Early game, it feels better to buy the shiny thing. Resist. Any upgrade that increases how much you earn per action is an investment, and the earlier you buy it, the more times it pays out over the lifetime of your account. I spent my first week buying decorations and watched a friend who'd started three days after me lap me entirely because he'd piled money into income multipliers. Humbling, educational, still annoying.4. Sell your junk (but check prices first)Inventory clutter is money. I do a Sunday clear-out and go through, dump duplicates and anything below my current tier.
But: some "junk" items spike in value during specific events or are a requirement for a craft/quest later. Before I bulk-sell anything I don't recognise, I do a quick search in the community wiki or Discord. Takes two minutes, saves me from some devastating mistakes. (RIP the stack of materials I sold the week before the event that required exactly those materials. I reflect on it when I can't sleep.)
5. Events are where the real money is Normal play gives you a trickle. Events give you a flood.
My approach: when an event drops, I check the full reward ladder first and decide which tier is realistically reachable for how much I'm willing to play, and then stockpile energy in the days before it launches (don't spend, it caps right as the event opens) and go hard on day one while the competition is still waking up.
That pre-event energy stockpile trick is maybe my favourite thing in this whole post. It feels like cheating. It is not.
6. Offline earnings - check your cap
If Reality Bay gives you offline/idle earnings, there's almost certainly a cap on how long it accumulates. Know that number. If it caps at, say, a handful of hours, then logging in once at lunch doubles what you'd get from just logging in morning and night.
Two taps a day. Significant money. This is free real estate. The honest part
Here's the thing I wish someone had told me earlier. You don't need to optimise every second of this game to enjoy it.
I went through a phase where Reality Bay was like a second job. Alarms, spreadsheets (yes, a spreadsheet, don't look at me), stress about streaks. And at some point I went, hang on - this is a game. I'm supposed to be having a nice time.
Now I do the five minute version. Dailies, dump energy before bed, grab the ads when they're convenient, go hard during events I'm actually excited about, and otherwise just... play it because it's fun? Wild concept.
The tips above work brilliantly as light habits. They don't need to become your personality. (Learn from me. My spreadsheet had conditional formatting.)
Quick cheat sheet, because I love you
🔥 Spend energy before bed so it regenerates overnight
🔥 Save level-ups for when your bar is nearly empty
🔥 Watch rewarded ads during dead time (toast time, kettle time)
🔥 Stockpile energy right before a big event drops
🪙 Never break your daily streak - the multiplier is the whole point
🪙 Income upgrades first, cosmetics later
🪙 Sunday inventory clear-out, but check values before selling
🪙 Mid-day log-in to beat the offline earnings cap
And that's everything I've got. If you've found something I haven't, especially anything about the energy timers, because I'm sure there's more depth to it, drop it in the comments. I will read it immediately, and then test it for four hours instead of doing laundry.
Right. My energy bar just ticked over to full.
Gotta go. 🏃♂️
