In The Conscious Universe he invites us to adopt a new perspective focused on life, one that recognizes how rare and valuable it is, and why it should be our mission to preserve and care for it. Gleiser's paradigm rethinks the ideals of the Enlightenment and proposes a new direction for humanity, driven by reason and curiosity (precisely, engines of science), and whose purpose would be to reposition us as the place where life becomes conscious. In this way, we would recover a moral compass that could be used both to guide science and the politics that orbit around it.
