Une histoire d"amour nait entre un directeur de prison et une des prisonnières du nom d'Anna. Anna est une ancienne cantatrice incarcérée pour s'etre opposée à l'interdiction de l'Art.
Petit à petit, elle va transformer la prison pour en faire un lieu vivable et bien préférable au Monde extérieur.
Suite à un dérèglement de la Machine, les amants peuvent s'échaper et démarrer une nouvelle vie dans une région montageuse encore préservée.
