La recién reunificada República de China de 1928 era un gigante herido que, entre las cenizas de las luchas intestinas y bajo la sombra cada vez más amenazante del imperio japonés, buscaba una nueva piel de acero. Por ello, el Kuomintang, consciente de que los fusiles ya no bastaban en un campo de batalla moderno, emprendió una carrera contra el tiempo para modernizar sus ejércitos. Así llegaron las tanquetas, los tanques y los blindados desde tierras lejanas, cuyos motores rugieron en lugares donde antes sólo marchaban ejércitos a pie y a caballo. Es cierto que eran pocos y vulnerables, pero sembraron las primerassemillas de una fuerza acorazada.Esta pequeña obra nos invita a descubrir no sólo los medios acorazados y blindados con los que contó la República de China entre 1928 y 1937, sino también la historia de las unidades que dieron forma al Cuerpo Blindado del Ejército. Esta unidad combatió con valor y coraje en las sangrientas batallas de Shanghái y Nankín, donde fue prácticamente aniquilada. Sin embargo, las acciones de sus tanques Vickers Mk.E Type B y Panzer I Ausf.A escribieron, en sangre y acero, uno de los capítulos más desconocidos de la historia militar china.
